As a student at the University of Rennes 2, I’ve had the opportunity to engage in various activities alongside my studies. For instance, as a volunteer with the Association de la Fondation Étudiante pour la Ville (AFEV), I had the privilege of guiding children and teenagers through city exploration activities.
I also participated in guided tours and workshops for children at the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Rennes and La Criée. Additionally, I joined cooking workshops and picnics organized with other volunteers.
Through the Buddy System, I’ve met both French and international students to explore their cultures and share sports activities and excursions. Activities included visiting the Christmas market, playing laser tag, ice skating, and bowling.
I also took part in “Mix ta Fourchette,” an event exploring different world cuisines. I participated twice with Erasmus students and won a €30 voucher. This experience was enjoyable as I tasted dishes from various countries and shared my own cuisine.
This year, with the University of Rennes 2, I participated in the “Projet Vacéer” workshop, focusing on artistic creation and student engagement in public spaces. Initially unsure of how to connect my student involvement with public spaces, I started sketching ideas inspired by my interest in architecture. I took photos of architecture around the city center, particularly half-timbered buildings.
I printed the photos, cut out the sections that interested me, and combined these pieces of half-timbered buildings with elements from modern buildings. I hand-drew some parts to create a unique composition and used watercolor on the photos, resulting in a panoramic collage of the city of Rennes.
The use of photography and printing is a modern technique, while drawing and watercolor are traditional methods. This blend of techniques is crucial for my work as it reflects the fusion of ancient and contemporary architecture. This approach resonates deeply with my life, artistic passion, and student engagement in France. It also highlights the importance of culture, the cultural shifts between Bangladesh and France, and the evolution between ancient and modern eras.

The process of creating this panoramic collage has been a true artistic exploration for me. By layering photos of Rennes’ half-timbered and modern buildings, I captured the essence of the city, harmoniously blending tradition and modernity. The collage technique, combined with watercolor, not only creates a visually pleasing aesthetic but also tells a story. Each brushstroke, cutout, and photo collage symbolizes how elements from different eras can coexist and enrich our environment.
Not only did I volunteer with AFEV, but I was also involved in other volunteer activities through JeVeuxAider.gouv.fr.
I dedicated time as a volunteer at Ateliers Déclic in Saint-Jacques-de-la-Lande, where I helped children learn photography. I also participated in the Fête des Jeux on April 25th, organized by the city of Rennes and the Maison de Quartier de La Touche in Saint-Martin. Additionally, I volunteered with food distributions for the Red Cross in Besançon from 2020 to 2022.
These experiences allowed me to engage meaningfully with my community, fostering a strong sense of mutual aid and solidarity. They also helped me develop my skills while making a positive contribution to the community. I am grateful to have played a role in the lives of young people and to have been part of projects that have had a real impact on their journeys.
I have completed several internships at FRAC, Atelier 2 Scènes, and with professional artists, actively participating in mediation actions throughout my studies. These experiences honed my communication, group management, and event organization skills, reinforcing my commitment to art and culture.
